Larger vehicles carry more steel and hold parts that stay in demand. That usually means a better offer than you would get for a car of the same age. Here is what to expect.
Junk vehicle value has two engines: scrap weight and recoverable parts. Trucks and SUVs win on both.
A full-size pickup outweighs a mid-size sedan by roughly 700 to 1,200 kg. Scrap is priced by the tonne, so that extra mass converts directly into money. On top of that, trucks and SUVs share common engines, transmissions, transfer cases, and axles across many model years, which keeps used parts in demand.
That is why a 2005 pickup with a dead engine can be worth more than a 2012 sedan that still runs. Age matters less than mass and parts.
| Vehicle | Typical payout | What drives it |
|---|---|---|
| Full-size pickup (F-150, Silverado, Ram) | $500 – $2,500 | Weight, V8 engines, axles, and body panels |
| Mid-size pickup (Ranger, Tacoma, Colorado) | $400 – $2,000 | Strong parts demand, especially Toyota |
| Full-size SUV (Tahoe, Expedition, Suburban) | $450 – $2,200 | Heavy body, shared truck drivetrain |
| Mid-size SUV / crossover | $300 – $1,500 | Lighter, but modern electronics add value |
| Cargo or passenger van | $400 – $1,800 | Very heavy, lots of sheet steel |
| Dually or heavy-duty truck | $700 – $3,000+ | Highest weight and strongest parts demand |
Ranges assume a complete vehicle with a title. A truck missing its engine, transmission, or bed pays at the low end or below.
| Factor | Effect |
|---|---|
| Engine and transmission present | Raises — the two most valuable components |
| Alloy wheels | Raises — aluminium is worth more than steel |
| Catalytic converters fitted | Raises — trucks often carry two |
| Four-wheel drive | Raises — transfer case and front axle add value |
| Missing bed or cab | Lowers — significantly less steel to recover |
| Severe rust on the frame | Lowers — frame may not be reusable |
| No title | Lowers slightly, but usually still buyable |
We buy work trucks regularly, and they need slightly different handling. Utility bodies, ladder racks, tool boxes, and shelving are common and they do not prevent a purchase.
Weight class matters for the truck we send. Tell us on the call if the vehicle is:
That is not a complication for us — it just means we bring the right equipment the first time. Towing is free with the purchase either way.
Cargo vans and passenger vans are among the best-value junk vehicles because they are mostly one large box of sheet steel. Sprinter-style vans, Econolines, Savanas, and Transit models all qualify.
Converted camper vans can be bought whole or after you strip the interior. It usually pays you more to remove the appliances and fittings first, since those have resale value to you and no scrap value to us.
The rules are the same as for cars: the title in your name is simplest, Georgia registration works if the title is lost, and a bill of sale plus the previous owner's details covers a vehicle you never transferred.
